Although it is the end of the "height" of the summer season, the tram will still be running throughout the shoulder season, until Oct. 18. Stop by and enjoy Alyeska without all the hustle and bustle.

A hawk flew over the tram this morning. There was no one in the cabin with me to share the experience with, but most tourist folks don't get too excited by birds anyway.
There was a bear over by center ridge, on one of the last patches of snow on the mountain. He is bigger than the one a few posts down.
He (or she) is one of three cubs born last spring. Their mom was hit by a car early last fall and probably didn't make it.
But this one is as healthy as can be, and quite a little trouble maker; last week he broke into the shop, again!
