Saying goodbye to Chair 1

This summer is the end of an era at Alyeska Resort. Since chair 1 hadn't run in 2 years, and was not going to be loading guests or employees anymore, the resort decided to tear down the lift. Many people asked why we would do this, and the truth is that they don't make parts for these kinds of lifts anymore.

Lift Crew Winter 15-16

Introducing some of the characters on this winter's lift crew!

Christian (left) is actually on Lift Maintenance, but we work closely with them.  Doug (right) has been on lift crew off and on since the late 90s. 

Kjetil is one of the lead ops on night crew. Stoked to have this guy around on summer ops as well!

This is Steve's first winter on lift crew, but he has been killing it up on Glacier Bowl Express!

Fantastic March at Alyeska Resort!

The Lead lift operators did a ski around a couple of weeks ago, just to make sure everyone is on the same page.

 It was good for the team.

Norman was stoked to run lift 1 for the last night of night operations.

 Super Grover (Shawn) was also on the scene!

 We had an end-of-night ops torchlight parade. It was super fun.

Then we had some serious snow days. On Tuesday, we had about 4 feet of fresh pow AND sunshine!

Lift Ops Training

Lift ops crew was busy getting trained up this past week.

Putting the sign up at the base of the Magic Carpet.  An annual event.

Electricians, Brad and Eric, have been connecting the mountains lights to the towers. The new lights strike significantly faster than the old ones.
