Avalanche on Max's Mountain

From the loop in the Daylodge parking lot; the lot itself is closed, as was the whole mountain, in case another, larger avalanche comes down.
I heard this was a natural slide that occurred overnight, but I'll find out more details and get back to you.

Also, Alyeska is flying a job for a Tram/ Lift Electrician, level 1.

Ok, I do want to visit Alaska someday...but avalanches scare the heck out of me! A friend of mine once told me the tale of how he was totally buried in a backcountry slide...freaked out...knew he was going to die...struggled despite it feeling like he was encased in cement...then got all peaceful about the whole thing. Then, WHAM, the probe smacked him in his chest and his friends yanked him out to tell the tale.

Great pics though. I mean, scary, but give a pretty clear view of what an avy can do/look like.

The mountain was closed due to high winds and avalanche danger, obviously a good call. Our snow safety team works very hard to keep guests and employees safe. Thanks for visiting!

Oh, I totally believe you guys keep it very safe up there! I'm in awe of nature, and I know you all keep a close eye on her. Didn't mean to imply anything about Alyeska, just about avalanches in general.

Which may be why I'm not a backcountry ski person myself...I prefer inbounds, which are indeed closely monitored. :)

Hope you can re-open soon. It's snowing like mad here in southern Utah right now...

No offense taken, just saying.
We are back open now. The backcountry is still very dangerous, so inbounds is the place to be today.
